HOW DO I FIT MY CURTAINS?

Pencil Pleat Curtains.

  • Before you hang your Pencil Pleat Curtains, they need to be 'gathered' to the appropriate width.
  • Firstly, ensure the strings of the Heading Tape are tied together securely at each side of the curtain. Select the end of the curtain that will be to the outside of the window opening (if your curtains contain a half width of material this should hang to the outer edge) .
  • Carefully draw the heading tape along the cords to 'gather' the curtain in even pleats to the appropriate width. (To help when doing this the tied cords can be hung over a door handle or other fixed anchor point).
  • For Pairs of Curtains, measure the Pole or Track width add 250mm allowance to ensure the curtains 'meet', plus any centre overlap and then pleat each curtain to half this total width. For single curtains simply add 125mm instead.
  • The surplus cord should be wound together and tucked into the heading tape. Do Not cut this cord as it will be needed to let out the pleats when dry cleaning your curtains.
  • For hanging your Curtains on a Curtain Pole, insert a matching number of curtain hooks to the number of pole rings, into the top pocket of the Curtain Tape evenly across the width of the curtain / curtains. This allows the Curtains to hang below the ornamental ring on the Pole (showing the Pole).
  • For hanging your Curtains on a Curtain Track, insert a matching number of curtain hooks to the number of track runner rings, (including any overlap arms) into the lower pocket of the Curtain Tape evenly across the width of the curtain / curtains. This allows the Curtains to hang from the top of the Curtain Track (hiding the Track). Each hook should be approximately 75 to 100mm apart.
  • Now hang the Curtain Hooks into the eye of the Track / Pole runner eye, ensuring you support the weight of the Curtains during the hanging process. Finally neaten the pleats and 'dress' the curtains into luxurious folds.

Pinch Pleat Curtains.

  • Your Pinch Pleat Curtains will arrive already gathered to the width ordered.
  • For Hanging your Curtains on a Curtain Pole, insert the Pinch Pleat hooks into the Heading Tape behind each Pleat and near to each end , to the top edge of the Heading Tape. This allows the Curtains to hang below the Pole (showing the Pole).
  • Any extra Pole Rings should be removed from the pole.
  • For hanging your Curtains on a Curtain Track, insert the Pinch Pleat hooks into the Heading Tape behind each Pleat and near to each end, further down the Heading Tape. This allows the Curtains to hang from the top of the Curtain Track (hiding the Track).
  • Any extra Track runners should be missed out or removed when hanging the curtains.
  • Now hang the Curtain Hooks into the eye of the Track / Pole runner eye, ensuring you support the weight of the Curtains during the hanging process.
  • If required the drop can be adjusted by moving the pin hooks up and down.

Eyelet Curtains.

  • Eyelet Curtains can only be fitted to a Curtain Pole.
  • Thread the Curtains, through the Eyelets onto the Curtain Pole, ensuring that each edge of each curtain is facing to the wall.
  • The first Eyelet of each curtain should be between the fixing bracket and the Pole Finial to anchor the curtains to the outside of the window when drawn.

Curtain Poles and Tracks.

All our Curtain Poles and Tracks come complete with manufacturers fitting instructions. Please read fully before attempting to install.
Ordinarily a Curtain Pole or Track should be fitted at least 100mm above the window recess, (this ensures the curtain tape is not visible from the outside), and 150mm / 200mm overlapping the window recess at each side.
If your Curtains have been produced prior to the fitting of your pole or track, the pole or track should be installed to suit.

HOW DO I FIT MY ROMAN BLINDS?

Installation

  • Place the appropriate brackets in position and mark the surface of the wall or windows frame through the bracket fixing points for the fixing holes.
The brackets should be positioned at each end of the headrail approximately 110mm in and intermediately spread across the width as required.
  • Fix the brackets in place using appropriate fixings for the type of surface. (The fixings supplied are designed for fixing into a wood surface)
For alternative surface i.e. plaster/concrete alternative suitable fixings should be used.

Roulett Roman System - Standard Universal swivel bracket

  • Offer the blind up to the brackets and clip/fix in place. The bracket should be located on the front of the headrail, the back of the headrail pushed up and the locking lever pushed home.

S' Track Roman System

HOW DO I KNOW MY MEASUREMENTS?

If you're unsure of how to measure your curtains then view our measure guide. This can be found below or on the back of the sample booklet you receive when ordering samples.

BELOW ARE OUR FAILSAFE WAYS TO MEASURE YOUR BLINDS OR CURTAINS

BLINDS

You can choose to have your blind made to fit the inside of the recess of your window or it can hang on the outside of the window recess.

INSIDE WINDOW RECESS (RECESS)
Measure the width of the recess wall to wall and the height of the window recess from the top to the sill. Please measure at three different points in case your window is not square and give us the smallest of these measurements. We will make the necessary deduction so your blind fits and operates perfectly. This is RECESS measurement.

OUTSIDE WINDOW RECESS (EXACT)
Measure the width and drop you require your blind. Overlapping the window recess at either side by approximately 65mm (2½") and by 100mm (4") at the top. We will make your blind to these exact measurements with no deductions. This is the EXACT measurement.

CURTAINS

MEASURING THE WIDTH (ALL HEADINGS)
Measure the total width of the rail or pole excluding any finials and add 250mm (10") overlap which allows the hanging curtains to overlap in the centre when closed. This is the track/pole width.

MEASURING THE DROP (PENCIL & PINCH HEADING)
Measure from the top of the track or the small eye on the ring of the pole to 12mm(½") from the floor or 150mm (6") below the sill.
If fitting curtain rails or poles they should be fitted 150mm (6") above the window recess and extend approximately 200mm (8") either side. This is the HEM TO HEM drop.

DROP (EYELET HEADING)
Measure the distance from the top of the pole to 12mm (½") above the floor (or approximately 35mm (1½"), if you have not yet had carpet fitted but intend to) or 150mm (6") below the window sill. This is the POLE (TOP) TO HEM drop.
